Houses On The Borderland is a report from the weirdly intertwined histories of three locations. From the last recordings at Boleskine taken on the anniversary of Aleister Crowley's death, weeks before his former abode was destroyed by fire, via the gloomy Kensingston Mansions of Polanski's Repulsion to the kitsch cinematic setting of Curse Of The Crimson Altar, Houses On The Borderland traces a lineage of porcine horror and recidivist impulses. Dredged from the abyssal imagination of William Hope Hodgson the music combines precision cut field recordings, baroque soundtracks and ritual workouts inspired by early Tangerine Dream and Jacula to create a new strain of Kosmiche Horror music set against the bizarre synchronicities of the 1960s. Comes with booklet.

Volcano Adventures is a report from Stanislav Grof's Basic Perinatal Matrix III. BPM III is the most violent and convulsive phase of Grof's psychedelic mapping of consciousness to the birth process. Documents presents an idiosyncratic take on BPM III, weaving an audio narrative congealing the biographies of a host of volcanic voyagers from the Marquis De Sade, on a sabbatical in Italy, to Malcolm Lowry and Claude Vorilhon. 52 minutes of lush maat rock and music for the execution of Geoffrey Firmin.

Justin Hopper - I Made Some Low Inquiries

Justion Hopper

Out Of Stock

Areport on two landscapes composed in poetry and sound. I Made Some Low Inquiries begins with the folk ballads of the Ozark Mountains in the southeastern USA, and the tradition of nature magic in rural East Anglia. These poems, songs and sounds are an act of translation between the two – of bilocation, examining two mythological landscapes that exist in very real locations. Through front-porch gothic Americana and agrarian Suffolk toad-bone rituals, I Made Some Low Inquiries wanders in and out of phase with landscape, memory, myth and 'nature' itself. This piece by Justin Hopper includes music by Lost Harbours and Cath & Phil Tyler, and special guest readings by Shirley Collins.

Matthew Shaw - Tweoxneam

Matthew Shaw

Out of stock

Tweoxneam is a long form sound poem based on the palimpsests and toponymies of Matthew Shaw's hometown Christchurch. The mysteries of its apocryphal and actual history are soundtracked with a carefully unfolding procession of organic music and birdsong. Nature and focused obsession leading to supernature, psyche picks her geographies. The vision is very much twinned with the infinite village of Stanley Spencer's Cookham. Tweoxneam is presented with a visual and textual guide taking in the Dorset world of Gerald Gardner, the appearance of Christ-like carpenters, and the still sounding tocsins of neolithic power centres. Comes with 16 page A5 illustrated booklet

English Heretic - A Study Of Lunar Research Flights

Matthew Shaw

Out of stock

A Study of Lunar Research Flights was the codename for a US military operation to explode a nuclear bomb on the moon. The phallic lunacy of cold war weapon testing is the launchpad for English Heretic to meditate on the cosmic battle between sol and luna. The red and white of alchemy as primal landscapes and archetypes, designated by sun and moon. This release navigates a rich route from the solar temple of Bawdsey missile base via the utterly mysterious shrine to Astarte at Margate's Shell Grotto back to the cruel tophet of Carthage. Under the tutelage of Tanit and Ba'al, this is music for hermetic time and space travel: flight commanders Carl Sagan and Artaud. Comes with 24 page A5 illustrated booklet
